摘要: 1. This project tests the behavioral effects of reversible activation and inactivation sites within frontal eye field rhesus monkeys with microinjections gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-related drugs bicuculline muscimol. 2. Muscimol injections impaired monkeys' ability to make both visually memory-guided saccades targets at center area represented by injection site. The latencies in regions flanking were increased. For saccades, direction opposite that site, made shorter latency than controls often occurred before movement cue. 3. Bicuculline produced irrepressible equivalent saccade vector a staircase several closely spaced movements. 4. Both substances decreased accuracy fixation central light. distribution points on different trials was diffuse, angle gaze tended deviate towards side injection. 5. results these acute are similiar those observed superior colliculus much more substantial long term after surgical removal field. this study promote role for generation all voluntary control fixation.
