摘要: To view objects at different distances, humans rely on vergence eye movements to appropriately converge or diverge the eyes and ocular accommodation focus object1,2. Despite importance of these coordinated (the ‘near response’) very little is known about role cerebral cortex in their control. As near-response neurons exist within nucleus reticularis tegmenti pontis3, which receives input from frontal field region cortex4,5,6, this cortical be involved saccadic7,8,9 smooth-pursuit movements10,11,12, we propose that a nearby might play accommodation. Here provide evidence rhesus monkeys located immediately anterior saccade-related accommodation, sensorimotor transformations required for movements. We conclude macaque control all voluntary movements, suggest definition fields should expanded include region.
