摘要: Abstract The flagellum of Trypanosoma brucei contains calmodulin, and a separate family antigenically related EF-hand calcium-binding proteins which we call calflagins. The following study evaluates the structure genomic organization calflagin family. Genomic Southern blots indicated that multiple copies genes occurred in T. brucei, all these were contained single 23 kb XhoI-XhoI fragment on chromosomes 15 16 mRNAs 1.2 1.6 identified bloodstream procyclic life-cycle stages. fragments 2.5 1.7 cloned encoded sequences. arranged tandemly along fragments. Three new members sequenced from cDNA clone two clones. Two unrelated families 3' flanking sequences downstream genes. An open reading frame was to any sequence at 5' end fragment. deduced amino acid clones (called Tb-24 Tb-1.7g) similar previously described Tb-17. Each an approximately 24 kDa protein three motifs one degenerate motif. Tb-44A) twice as large other size resulted nearly direct repeat 186 acids. In general, variability among calflagins greater than observed for cruzi. We demonstrate this substitutions N-terminus, C-terminal extensions, duplication internal segments.
