摘要: The owl monkey is the only anthropoid primate which has exploited a nocturnal niche and in this respect it proven extremely successful. It occurs Northern Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru Venezuela, represents widest distribution range of any South American monkey. Throughout range, various populations monkeys exhibit considerable genetic diversity. Reumer De Boer1 have defined seven karyomorphs for monkey, with diploid numbers ranging from 46 to 56. Ma et al 2 describe four phenotypes genus based on differences pelage animals captured parts America. taxonomic significance these variations remains matter dispute beyond scope review. All observations captive reported here refer Colombian subspecies (Plate I: Aotus trivirgatus griseimembra)3,4 belongs phenotype B al’s scheme.
