摘要: Increased global connectivity and shorter transportation times translate to a higher probability frequency that hosts their parasites will be introduced foreign locations arrive viable. However, myxozoans are heteroxenous with two obligatory free-living life stages, so even if parasite is introduced, myriad of factors must align for establishment occur. Associated successful introductions ecological economic impacts. Unless there an established monitoring program, it difficult detect the emergence myxozoan before clinical signs become overt. In this chapter we examine features promote or impede dissemination establishment. We present examples modes introduction dispersal, both natural human-mediated. review known novel species responsible emerging diseases, recently identified have potential cause disease. conclude by outlining strategies understand limit introductions.
