摘要: Object. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is exacerbated by hypotension and hypoventilation. Because previous studies have shown a potentiating effect of ethanol (EtOH) on TBI hemorrhagic shock (HS), the authors investigated effects EtOH early physiological response to with without HS. Methods. Anesthetized swine, weighing approximately 20 kg each, underwent fluid-percussion 3 atm or 30 ml/kg hemorrhage for period minutes. The mean arterial blood pressure, intracranial cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP), cardiac output, venous oxygen saturation, metabolic parameters were monitored hours postinjury. Ventilation hypercapnia also measured. Regional flow renal measured using dye-labeled microspheres. Five groups studied: control, TBI, TBI/EtOH, TBI/HS, TBI/HS/EtOH. (3.5 g) was given intragastrically 100 minutes preinjury. TBI/HS/EtOH group demonstrated ...
