摘要: Salivary gland enlargement resulting from benign lymphoepithelial lesions may be seen in patients with Sjogren's syndrome (SS) and the early stages of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Although pathogenesis these is thought to differ SS HIV infection, Epstein-Barr (EBV) has been suggested as a pathogenetic agent both cases. We have assessed presence latent EBV infection series 15 salivary using RNA-RNA situ hybridization digoxigenin-labeled riboprobes complementary abundantly-expressed EBV-encoded small RNA 1 (EBER1). Two four (BLEL) seropositive for expressed EBER1 lymphocyte nuclei fashion similar that described previously HIV-associated persistent generalized lymphadenopathy (PGL). By contrast, was not any BLEL SS, or seven cysts (LEC) neither nor SS. These data suggest does play major role associated those without systemic disease. In case lesions, are consistent earlier proposals result involvement intraparotid lymph nodes by PGL.
