Abdominopelvic inspection during nonemergent laparoscopic procedures: who looks?

摘要: Abstract Objective A study was performed to determine whether surgeons and gynecologists inspect the entire abdomen/pelvis at time of nonemergent laparoscopic surgery. Study design retrospective chart audit conducted patients who underwent elective cholecystectomy or tubal ligation. Dictated hand-written operative notes were reviewed. Any documentation pelvic structures from upper abdomen ligation determined be positive for abdominopelvic surveillance. Results total 771 reviewed, which included 358 ligations 413 cholecystectomies. Two hundred four (57%) by had a survey versus 36 (8.7%) cholecystectomies that pelvis. Conclusion Gynecologists general either do not document perform inspection universally.
