摘要: Recently, the global state of marine fisheries and its effects on ecosystems have received much scientific (and public) scrutiny. There is little doubt that limits to exploitation been reached recovery depleted stocks must become a cornerstone management. Yet, current trends appear be diverging between well-assessed regions showing stabilization fish biomass other continuing decline. This divergence can explained by improved controls rates in several wealthy countries, but low management capacity elsewhere. Here, we identify an urgent need direct priorities towards ‘fisheries-conservation hotspots' increasing rates, high biodiversity, poor capacity, conclude future depends, at least part, redoubling science, co-management conservation efforts those regions.
