摘要: The detrimental effect of fungal pathogens on forest trees is an increasingly important problem that has implications for the health our planet. Despite this, study molecular plant-microbe interactions in its infancy, and very little known about roles effector molecules from pathogens. Dothistroma septosporum causes a devastating needle blight disease pines, intriguingly, closely related to Cladosporium fulvum, tomato pathogen which pioneering biology studies have been carried out. Here, we studied D. effectors are shared with C. by comparing gene sequences global isolates assessing function both host non-host plants. Many were predicted be non-functional due their pseudogenization or low expression planta, suggesting adaptation lifestyle host. Effector polymorphic among collection isolates, but there was no evidence positive selection. DsEcp2-1 elicited cell death plant Nicotiana tabacum, whilst mutants showed increased colonization pine needles. Together these results suggest might recognized immune receptor angiosperm gymnosperm This work may lead identification targets will provide much needed information basis gymnosperm-pathogen forests, also novel methods control.
