摘要: OBJECTIVE Interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) is released as part of the acute phase immune response and can directly stimulate release corticotrophin-releasing hormone thus induce hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis hyperactivity. Major depression has been shown to be accompanied by both an response, including raised IL-1beta production In this study possible role in major postviral was investigated. METHOD Plasma levels were measured four groups; patients suffering from (n= 17), with (n = 20), subjects who euthymic 12) normal controls 20). RESULTS serum concentrations significantly elevated groups depressed compared controls. The higher group than group; difference not significant. CONCLUSION These data confirm previous suggestions depression. known depressive symptoms well sickness behaviour may contribute hyperactivity found mood disorders.
