摘要: Cephalometric radiography is an important diagnostic aid in orthodontics. Mesh analysis a proportionate cephalometric method of graphically assessing disharmonies the craniofacial complex. Original norms for this were created from white, European American sample. Norms black Americans African descent developed another study. The purposes investigation were: (1) to develop standard mesh diagram Puerto Rican population; (2) compare with previously established data white sample; (3) linear and angular means Legan, Burstone, Ricketts, DiPaolo, Steiner analyses (4) assess use panel selecting esthetically pleasing faces. subjects study had no previous orthodontic treatment, Class I occlusion 6 mm or less crowding per dental arch, two parents sets grandparents who born Rico. Sixty-nine patients met criteria, 50 those (20 males 30 females) selected as having faces by panel. Male female norm diagrams these compared previously. Linear measurements also compared. Significant differences between ethnic groups found dentoalveolar region. Similarities noticed upper face height anterior cranial base length. selection results showed agreement within sexes, occupations, groups.
