摘要: Abstract Purpose: This study was performed to compare the dimensions of nasopharynx, oropharnynx, and hypopharynx persons with hyperdivergent normodivergent facial types, determine whether any variations exist. Patients Methods: Lateral cephalometric records a population pattern (n = 23) group 27) as evidenced by increased mandibular plane angle were used soft tissue airway dimensions. Statistical analysis consisted Student's t -tests, Wilcoxon rank sums, ξ 2 . significance set .05. Results: Overall had narrower anteroposterior pharyngeal dimension than control group. narrowing specifically noted in nasopharynx at level hard palate oropharynx tip mandible. In addition, posterior wall thinning inferior border third cervical vertebrae, there more obtuse palatal angle. The tongue also positioned inferiorly posteriorly group, distance between hyoid bone epiglottis. retruded maxillary apical bases higher Class II skeletal discrepancy. Conclusions: patients may be attributable features common such patients, that is, retrusion maxilla mandible vertical excess. Other features, an low-set hyoid, contributory factors. relatively thin observed might compensatory mechanism.
