摘要: It is commonly assumed that nasorespiratory function can exert a dramatic effect upon the development of dentofacial complex. Specifically, it has been stated chronic nasal obstruction leads to mouth breathing, which causes altered tongue and mandibular positions. If this occurs during period active growth, outcome "adenoid facies" (dentofacial morphology). Such patients characteristically manifest vertically long lower third facial height, narrow alar bases, lip incompetence, maxillary arch, greater than normal plane angle. These traits have repeatedly attributed restricted function. generally believed environmental factors subtle or effects morphology, depending their magnitude, duration, time occurrence. The purpose article present critical review literature concerning one such factor, airway function, morphogenesis. This will critically examine most frequently cited papers reporting relationship between morphology. In summary, fails support consistent obstructed adenoid facies long-face syndrome. Additional objective evaluations relation are encouraged.
