摘要: Thecapability oftheAbbottAvantage system toidentify 10species ofcommonlyisolated glucose nonfermentative oroxidase-positive gram-negative bacilli ina5-htest period wasevaluated inacollaborative study. TheAvantage nonenteric databaseuses 20biochemical test reactions performed inanexpanded Abbott bacterial identification cartridge plus theresults ofamanualoxidase test. Thespecies included intheAvantage databaseareAcinetobacter anitratus, Acinetobacter lwoffi, Aeromonas hydrophila, Flavobacterium meningosepticum-IIb group, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, cepacia, fluorescens-putida maltophilia, Pasteurella multocida, andPlesiomonas shigelloides. Thecollaborative study thetesting of200codedchallenge strains inallthree laboratories andthesubsequent testing ofan additional groupof100to200clinical isolates recovered independently byeachlaboratory. Reference identifications forallisolates weredetermined byconventional biochemical reactions. Theoverall accuracy ofidentification ofthecodedchallenge forthethree was97%,whereas 95%of437clinical andselected stock cultures ofclinical derivation wereidentified correctly.
