摘要: Abstract Hydrogen bond formation between tertiary amines and long chain branched alcohols has been studied in order to understand the influence of length steric effect on complex alcohols. On addition amine alcohol intensity monomeric OH band decreases new appears corresponding alcohol—amine complex. The equilibrium constants are correlated by a two parameter equation. three correlation equations obtained for are: log K = 3.41 + 10.01σ* 0.02χ (for triethylamine-alcohol) 0.97 2.54σ* 0.21χ tributylamine-alcohol) 1.01 1.81σ* 0.26χ trioctylamine-alcohol), where σ* is Taft's polar constant χ molecular connectivity index R skeleton alcohol.
