摘要: Sustainable management of terrestrial hunting requires managers to set quotas restricting offtake. This often takes place in the absence reliable information on population size, and as a consequence, are an arbitrary fashion, leading decline revenue loss. In this investigation, we show how indirect measure abundance can be used sustainable manner, even size. Focusing lion Africa, developed simple algorithm convert changes number safari days required kill into quota for following year. was tested against simulation model dynamics, accounting uncertainties demography, observation, implementation. Results showed it reliably despite these uncertainties, providing robust foundation conservation hunted species.
