摘要: At the University Medical Center Utrecht, non-operative management was used for 44 patients with a unilateral vestibular schwannoma between 1990 and 1997. During that period, consecutive tumor sizes were determined by magnetic resonance imaging. Three of showed an average decrease in size 16.7% according to American Academy Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery standards. This study describes initial status audiometric changes measured over up 10 years these three patients. Vestibular function once, means bithermal caloric test, torsion saccade smooth pursuit registration spontaneous nystagmus. The had severe paresis on affected side. Pure-tone speech audiometry performed at regular intervals. Although their tumors decreased, hearing gradually deteriorated, just as it does majority growing or stable schwannoma. observations presented here suggest development symptoms not differentiate stable, shrinking tumor. may be result same pathogenetic mechanism.
