Effectiveness of Low-Dose Methadone Maintenance for the Treatment of Inner City Heroin Addicts

摘要: Addicts were maintained on a daily average methadone dose of 30 mg. Clients remaining in treatment for 6 and 12 months compared to clients dropping out within the first days followed up 1 year later. Results showed that significant reductions heroin usage arrests, large increases full-time employment. One later, dropouts doing as poorly they had earlier. Methadone maintenance averaging mg/day achieved similar “success' rates other studies using larger doses, but did so at expense retaining fewer treatment.
