摘要: Objective: The study objectives were to adapt and validate a substance use disorder (SUD) screening instrument in American Sign Language (ASL) be used identify those deaf individuals who have high probability of having an SUD. goal was develop accurate that balanced sensitivity specificity while imposing minimal response burden on respondents. Method: A sample 198 participants behavioral health, family social service, educational programs provide specialized services for interviewed obtain clinical diagnoses current (past 12 months) SUD according criteria the Diagnostic Statistical Manual Mental Disorders, 4th edition, completed 42-item version Substance Abuse Screener (SASASL). We Rasch discriminant function analyses reduce 28 items, then divided into development subsample, formulate scoring routine, validation subsample assess correspondence with diagnoses. To data shortened SASASL, independent 62 respondents diagnosed screener. Results: SASASL demonstrated good person reliability (.85), (.90), (.84) primary sample, 100% accuracy second sample. Conclusion: provides standardized population. adaptability electronic administration lends itself continuum technologically supported high-risk population is disenfranchised most community-based health services.
