What do people perceive in watching video game streaming? Eliciting spectators’ value structures

摘要: Abstract This study attempts to offer new insights into viewers’ perceptual process of watching video game streaming uncover their value structures with a qualitative method soft laddering interviews based on means-end chain (MEC) theory. A total 60 experienced spectators in Taiwan were recruited via snowball sampling. The identified perceptions 9 attributes, consequences, and 8 values that construct hierarchical map (HVM) consisting salient attribute-consequence-value chains. results show fun enjoyment life as well warm relationships others are two major perceived by viewers. In addition, this preliminarily compared chains different preferences for male female streamers at the attribute level found slight divergence. findings complement existing literature field provide practical implications more closely meet needs.
