摘要: Tetraspanins are a unique family of 4-pass transmembrane proteins that play important roles in variety cell biological processes. We have previously shown 2 paralogous tetraspanins Caenorhabditis elegans, TSP-12 and TSP-14, function redundantly to promote bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling. The underlying molecular mechanisms, however, not fully understood. In this study, we examined the expression subcellular localization patterns endogenously tagged TSP-14 proteins. found share overlapping multiple types, both localized on surface various types endosomes, including early, late, recycling endosomes. Animals lacking exhibit reduced cell-surface levels BMP type II receptor DAF-4/BMPRII, along with impaired endosome morphology mislocalization DAF-4/BMPRII late endosomes lysosomes. These findings indicate required for DAF-4/BMPRII. Together previous I SMA-6 is recycled via retromer complex, our work demonstrates involvement distinct pathways receptors highlights importance tetraspanin-mediated intracellular trafficking regulation signaling vivo. As conserved mammals, suggest mammalian homologs may also regulating
