High-Pressure Synthesis of Binderless Cubic Boron Nitride Sintered Bodies

摘要: In this article, synthesis of cubic boron nitride (cBN) sintered bodies without any additive was reviewed. At pressures higher than 8 GPa, direct transformation from hexagonal BN (hBN) to cBN took place near 2000°C. The resultant binderless exhibit superior properties as highly wear resistive materials. 10 GPa region, reaction temperature required for the complete hBN can be suppressed 1700°C, resulting in suppression grain growth during sintering. Higher resistance with finer grains cutting tools were demonstrated by their performance against ferrous Further requirement fabrication large scale sintering fine also discussed future study.
