摘要: Abstract Aims Pheochromocytomas are catecholamine-secreting tumors that also synthesize and secrete several neuropeptides, including opioids. A negative regulation of catecholamine secretion by opioids has been postulated in chromaffin cells. However, results obtained so far contradictory when referred to human pheochromocytomas. The aim this study was define the role locally produced enkephalins on release pheochromocytoma Main methods Cells from eleven pheochromocytomas different genetic origins were cultured for 5 days. Cultures maintained under basal condition or enkephalin, dexamethasone naloxone alone combination with enkephalin dexamethasone-stimulated conditions. Catecholamine levels culture medium measured HPLC-ED RIA respectively. Key findings Enkephalin induced a decrease norepinephrine all tumor cultures. Dexamethasone treatment, which increased levels, decreased levels. On other hand, addition cultures reverted normal inhibitory action exerted treatments. Significance These suggest existence an autocrine regulatory loop
