摘要: The association of iodine with organic matter in sedimentary basins is well documented. High concentration soils overlying oil and gas fields areas hydrocarbon microseepage has been observed used as a geochemical exploratory tool for hydrocarbons few studies. In this study, we measure soil samples collected from parts Deccan Syneclise the west central India to investigate its potential application indicator hydrocarbons. consists rifted depositional sites Gondwana–Mesozoic sediments up 3.5 km concealed under Traps considered prospective determined using ICP-MS values range between 1.1 19.3 ppm. are characteristic northern part sampled region. total carbon (TOC) content 0.1 1.3%. TOC correlates poorly (r 2 < 1), indicating lack surficial possibility interaction seeping iodine. Further, distribution pattern compares two surface indicators: adsorbed light gaseous (methane through butane) propane-oxidizing bacterial populations soil. integration observations show occurrence elevated study area, which also coincident presence exposed dyke swarms that probably serve conduits microseepage. corroboration existing geological, geophysical, data suggests efficacy one exploration Our supports be promising terms prospects.
