摘要: A potable supply reservoir, with a long history of diatom blooms in spring and cyanobacterial summer, was treated barley straw March 1993 subsequent additions December June 1994. Within two months the initial treatment, algal numbers started to fall compared previous years have remained consistently lower throughout Cyanobacteria not bloomed cell low. Chemical analysis water showed locally elevated concentrations geosmin close on one occasion but overall concentration this range other organic molecules within acceptable limits at similar those found untreated reservoirs region. Observed potential advantages public health management resulting from use are discussed.
