摘要: Populations of cyanobacteria, diatoms and unicellular green algae in a potable supply reservoir have been suppressed continuously since 1993 by repeated treatments barley straw. Algal cell numbers dropped soon after the straw was introduced remained at approximately one quarter those recorded prior to treatment. All types algae, including uniformly affected no new or resistant species developed. Taint odour problems water reduced filters treatment works require less frequent cleaning.
