摘要: Abstract This chapter focusses upon the current capacity for recombinant production of both structural proteins and peptides, including those capable self-assembly. The prospects large-scale to deliver quantities required many engineering applications. Advantages disadvantages various protein expression systems will be presented with particular empthasis on microbial plant-based system. Tools assisting in downstream processing recovery peptides considered. One applications self-assembling is tissue matrices. To date there are few examples these discussed. We also consider successful naturally occurring extracellular matrix bioactive as offer important insights into development future peptide production.
