摘要: Background: Glucosamine increases flux through the hexosamine pathway, causing insulin resistance and disturbances similar to diabetic glucose toxicity. Aim: This study examines effect of glucosamine on uptake by cultured L6 muscle cells as a model resistance. Methods: Glucose myotubes was measured using non-metabolized analogue 2-deoxy-D-glucose after incubation with for 4 24 h, without several other agents (metformin, peroxovanadium D-pinitol) that improve in states. Results: After high concentrations (5 × 10-3 10-2 M) reduced basal insulin-stimulated up 50%. completely abolished M over 50% 5 glucosamine. Lower did not significantly alter uptake. The could be attributed cytotoxicity assessed Trypan Blue test. Metformin, D-pinitol, each which increased cells, prevent decrease Conclusion: decreased providing potential similarities Insulin induced reversed three known enhance or partially mimic effects insulin. © 2004 Blackwell Publishing Ltd.
