摘要: Abstract In order to investigate the spatio-temporal organization of daytime arousal state, polygraphic recordings were obtained on 9 subjects, during period from 11.00 a.m. 19.30 p.m. Multiple sleep latency tests (MSLTs) administered every 20 min used as an objective index sleepiness. Long-duration, wide-band EEG was analyzed by principal components analysis (PCA) extract features ultradian rhythmicities. The data matrix for PCA constructed percentage-power values 16 frequency bands (2–18 Hz). diurnal rhythm made up 2 with periods about 100 and 3–8 h. shorter component is thought represent oscillation vigilance level between mental ‘rest’ ‘activity’ states in basic rest-activity cycle (BRAC). longer variations levels consciousness ‘wakefulness’ ‘drowsiness’ states. Our interpretation suggests that superimposed upon one, specific state involved rhythmicity changes another at around ‘breaking point’ mid-afternoon.
