摘要: To develop criteria for deficiency of essential fatty acids (EFA), we used capillary-column gas-liquid chromatography to determine (percentage total acids) in plasma obtained the fasting state from 56 reference subjects and 10 patients with intestinal fat malabsorption suspected EFA deficiency. Fatty acid evaluations that allowed a clear distinction (P less than 0.01) between patients, based on values two standard deviations below or above mean, included linoleic (18:2w6) 27%, palmitic (16:0), palmitoleic (16:1w7), oleic (18:1w9), vaccenic (18:1w7), Mead (20:3w9) exceeding 21%, 2.6%, 23.3%, 2.1%, 0.21%, respectively. Ratios non-EFA 0.60 arachidonic greater 0.025 also served identify were not found subjects. Significant inverse correlations percentages mono-unsaturated noted. Our reference-interval data can be assess normality status.
