摘要: Abstract Objectives : To evaluate the cost-effectiveness and safety of Home Intravenous Antibiotic Therapy (HIAT) program in district Haifa Western Galilee Northern Israel. Methods We checked all medical records patients who had been treated at home with intravenous antibiotics during 1999. reviewed mean clinical diagnosis, aetiological agent, type antibiotic given, complications cost evaluation. Results During 1999, 250 received 284 courses HIAT. The total duration treatments was 3404 days; 61% were referred from departments one centres our area. Soft-tissue infections osteomyelitis most common diagnoses 40%. Pseudomonas aeruginosa frequent pathogen presented Ceftazidine antimicrobial agent prescribed. HIAT saved $815 000 Only minor present. Conclusions is effective, safe, comfortable for patients, has an important economical impact.
