摘要: BACKGROUND The current study was conducted to assess posttreatment changes in the mental components of health related quality life prostate carcinoma patients during two years following diagnosis and management with radical prostatectomy, pelvic irradiation, or watchful waiting. METHODS The authors studied domains general 452 men recently diagnosed early stage treated radiation, waiting. Outcomes were assessed RAND 36-Item Health Survey, a validated health-related instrument that includes four domains. To minimize influence potentially confounding factors, adjusted for age, comorbidity, specific antigen (PSA) at diagnosis, biopsy Gleason score. All subjects drawn from CaPSURE™, national, longitudinal cohort. RESULTS By 6–12 months after treatment, active treatment groups began show differences vitality. By 15 months, surgery radiation scored differently all Over time, gaps between domain scores grew wider among groups, performing best, worst, waiting falling between. CONCLUSIONS The profiles differ undergoing surgery, carcinoma. Men more serious disease, as evidenced by higher PSA levels aggressive histology, tended worry about it. Older performed better, while sicker worse, even though older be sicker. Cancer 2002;95:54–60. © 2002 American Society. DOI 10.1002/cncr.10651
