摘要: The kynurenine pathway represents a major route for the catabolism of tryptophan (TRP). In body, TRP is transported around periphery either bound to albumin (90%) or in free form (10%), two states existing equilibrium (McMenamy 1965). However, only can be across blood-brain barrier (BBB) by competitive and nonspecific L-type amino acid transporter (Hargreaves Pardridge 1988). Once central nervous system (CNS), acts as precursor several metabolic pathways, such synthesis (KYN), serotonin, melatonin protein (Fig. 1) (Ruddick et al. 2006).
