摘要: Life cycle thinking (LCT) is one of the philosophies that has recently appeared in context sustainable development. Some already existing tools and methods, as well some emerged ones, which seek to understand, interpret design life a product, can be included into scope LCT philosophy. That case material energy flow analysis (MEFA), tool derived from industrial metabolism definition. This paper proposes methodology combining MEFA with another technique development also fits philosophy, BAT (best available techniques) analysis. This methodology, applied an process, seeks identify so-called improvable flows by MEFA, so appropriate candidate selected Material inputs, outputs internal are quantified, solutions provided on basis metabolism. The been exemplary roof tile manufacture plant for validation. 14 Improvable have identified 7 proposed aiming reduce these flows. The provides way detect or process selects most options enhance them. Solutions detected flows, taking account their effectiveness improving such flows. © 2011 Elsevier B.V.
