Measles exportation from Japan to the United States, 1994 to 2006.

摘要: Background Imported measles cases and outbreaks involving Japanese travelers have been reported from the United States other countries. For States, Japan is top country of origin. The aims this study were to analyze exportation trends suggest recommendations for improving monitoring control in both countries. Methods Reviewing all Centers Disease Control Prevention sentinel activity data monitored by Ministry Health between January 1994 December 2006 (observation period). Results A total 63 (median = 4 per year). Cases ranged age 9 months 53 years 17 y). Peaks occurred at 13 26 12 35 months. Six US citizens 57 Japanese. Ten July August, followed eight February March. Twenty-seven Hawaii, 15 California 6 New York. Seven developed secondary spread. Three had previously received one dose vaccine, compared who never immunized (25 unknown). During observation period, exceeded warning level 157 weeks, with occurring subsequent week 30 these weeks. In comparison, during 521 weeks which was below level, following observed 21 those (OR 5.62, 95% CI 3.12–10.2, p < 0.001). Conclusions Trend exported has corresponded trend Japan. Most unvaccinated. This international health problem should be solved strong leadership public professionals.
