摘要: Specimens of uranium dioxide have been prepared for field-ion microscopy by diamond-sawing followed chemical polishing and electro-polishing. Hydrogen-ion argon-ion found satisfactory. Hydrogen images are slightly unstable, owing to field-induced corrosion, but argon completely stable at the best-image field. Argon-ion improved raising temperature specimen coolant from 78 113° K; this also causes a large reduction in voltage, an improvement electrical conductivity specimen. The imaging element hydrogen-ion micrographs is uranium.
