摘要: Fortification with calcium to increase dietary intakes of this mineral is currently under evaluation in Canada. To model the potential consequences food fortification, data from a large national survey Canadians (n = 1543) were used. Food fortification scenarios based on reference amounts for labeling requirements. Consumption milk, cheese and other dairy products was associated high intakes, there low prevalence inadequacy men < 50 y old; however, age-sex groups had lower intakes. The aim modeling determine which scenario would most effectively reduce proportion population while minimizing individuals who exceeded tolerable upper intake level (UL). Given correlation between energy (r 0.60, P 0.01), it appeared that any sufficient mean women near adequate led 6-7% having above UL. results suggest widely consumed foods not realistic way address issue illustrate need concern about growing use practices.
