摘要: In the mid-1990s, changes to law enforcement strategies in New York City pushed many women working sex trade off of streets and into indoors. Increasing numbers began advertising sexual services bars, over Internet, print media, conducting their work homes, hotels, brothels. This study uses in-depth interviews participant observation examine impact this change on life York’s indoor trade. A critical finding is that as move indoors, they begin conceive a profession career, rather than just short-term means employment. “professional careerist orientation” may have significant implications for length women’s tenure ultimately, ability exit completely.
