摘要: In contrast to women, fertility in men persists until a very old age. However, testicular function of both the exo- and endocrine compartments decreases age, causing series clinical symptoms which are analogous to, although less pronounced than, menopausal syndrome. These can be considered represent male climacterium or andropause. whereas at menopause ovarian hormonal secretion ceases almost completely, decrease levels biologically active endrogens (free testosterone) is only moderate many elderly have free androgen that would normal for young men. Moreover, well-controlled studies shown benefit replacement therapy, least symptomatic posmenopausal so far no exist prove favourable risk/benefit balance substitution The major risk potentially stimulating effect androgens who frequently present with subclinical prostatic carcinoma. Therefore, generalized use cannot, as yet, recommended.
