摘要: Abstract The aim of the work was to determine effects feeding winter veld hay plus a supplement on scrotal, testicular and semen characteristics in young Boer goat bucks. Fifteen bucks (6–8 months age), were allocated two groups fed ad libitum for period 29 days. WH group (winter or control group; n = 8) received chopped diet consisting grass hay, predominantly Themeda triandra (cut during winter) from natural pastures (veld). WH + S supplement; = 7) same supplemented with maize meal, molasses meal urea. Body weights feed intake recorded, as well characteristics. Results indicate detrimental effect such sperm cell abnormalities (43% versus 24% group), volume (156 ml 104 ml animals) scrotal circumference (20.7 cm 17.7 cm group). It is essential nutrition small ruminants under environments, maintain characteristics, especially if animals are be used subsequent breeding season.
