Statistical analysis of the envelope gene and the prM region of Japanese encephalitis virus: Evidence suggestive of positive selection

摘要: The variation in nucleotide sequence observed the envelope (E) gene and prM (precursor of M protein) region different strains Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) was analysed. Presence selective forces acting on these regions investigated by computing relative rates synonymous (Ks) nonsynonymous (Ka) substitutions. ratioKs/Ka used as an indicator overall constraints amino acid JEV proteins. possibility that may be subject to varying pressures tested dividing into three estimating theKs/Ka ratio for each region. On basis analysis a limited number (17) JEV, evidence suggestive positive selection certain E virus, some cases entire gene, obtained. Analysis ofKa diversity 46 grouped genotypes revealed included genotype II were more heterogeneous than belonging I, while differences between meanKa values I III not statistically significant. host-specific heterogeneity pig isolates Xa-diverse human isolates.
