摘要: Synaptotagmin 2 resembles synaptotagmin 1, the Ca2+ sensor for fast neurotransmitter release in forebrain synapses, but little is known about function. Here, we describe a severely ataxic mouse strain that harbors single, destabilizing amino-acid substitution (I377N) 2. In Calyx of Held this mutation causes delay and decrease Ca2+-induced not hypertonic sucrose-induced release, suggesting mediates triggering evoked brainstem synapses. Unexpectedly, additionally observed mutant synapses dramatic increase spontaneous release. 1-deficient excitatory inhibitory cortical also displayed large demonstrating effect was shared among synaptotagmins 1 Our data suggest perform equivalent functions action potential-induced restriction consistent with general role controlling ‘release slots' synaptic vesicles at active zone.
