摘要: The obesity paradox in heart failure (HF) is criticized because of the limitations body mass index (BMI) correctly characterizing overweight and obese patients, necessitating a better evaluation nutritional status. aim this study was to assess status, BMI, significance terms HF survival. Anthropometry biochemical markers were assessed 55 patients. Undernourishment defined as presence ≥2 following indexes below normal range: triceps skinfold, subscapular arm muscle circumference, albumin, total lymphocyte count. Patients also stratified by BMI followed for median 26.7 months. Across strata, no patient underweight, 31% weight, 42% overweight, 27% obese. present 53% normal-weight 22% none patients (p = 0.001). Undernourished had significantly higher mortality 0.009) compared well-nourished In multivariate analysis, only undernutrition (hazard ratio 3.149, 95% confidence interval 1.367 7.253), New York Heart Association functional class 3.374, 1.486 7.659), age 1.115, 1.045 1.189) remained model. Among indicators, skinfold best predictor mortality; with fifth percentile 0.0001). conclusion, does not indicate true status HF. Classifying well nourished or undernourished may improve risk stratification.
