摘要: Halogenated squaraine dyes are characterized by long wavelength absorption (>600 nm) and high triplet yields therefore represent new types of photosensitizers that could be useful for photodynamic therapy. We have analyzed the cytotoxicity genotoxicity bromo derivative 1, iodo 2 corresponding nonhalogenated dye 3 in absence presence visible light. At concentrations 1-2 microM, 1 reduced cloning efficiency AS52 Chinese hamster ovary cells to less than 1% under conditions were well tolerated dark. Similarly, proliferation L5178Y mouse lymphoma was inhibited photoexcited with selectivity. The much efficient. Both induced only few mutations gpt locus light not mutagenic No mutagenicity without irradiation observed Salmonella typhimurium TA100 TA2638. However, both plus increased frequency micronuclei cells. results indicate halogenated squaraines exhibit photobiological properties vitro favorable therapeutical applications.
