Evaporation of water from the Mucilage of a gelatinous algal community

摘要: By measuring changes in the water potential of Gloeocystis gel during evaporation, it has been possible to show that mucilage component gels can act as a reservoir for water. The bulk this is readily available support evaporation from gel, without imposing an extreme osmotic stress on cells within gels.
