摘要: Transepidermal water permeation was measured for the shed skin of 8 species snakes under conditions where formed an interface between liquid and dry air. Extraction with chloroform: methanol removed lipids amounting to 4.9-8.7% weight increased transepidermal 35- 175-fold. Initial extraction snake hexane only 25-35% total extractable lipid but 3- 10-fold. For totally delipidized skin, water-to-air much faster than air-to-air permeation, also evaporation from a free surface.
