摘要: UV vision has profound effects on the evolution of organisms by affecting such behaviors as mating preference and foraging strategies. Despite its importance, molecular basis is not known. Here, we have transformed zebra finch pigment into a violet incorporating one amino acid change, C84S. By reverse mutations, also constructed pigments from orthologous pigeon chicken. These results comparative sequence analyses in vertebrates demonstrate that many avian species achieved their S84C.
