摘要: Abstract Two members of the human salivary proline-rich protein (PRP) multigene family have been isolated and completely sequenced. These PRP genes, PRH1 PRH2, are HaeIII-type subfamily code for acidic proteins. Both genes approximately 3.5 kilobase pairs (kb) in length contain four exons. Exon 3 encodes part includes five 63-base pair (bp) repeats. CAT ATA boxes several possible enhancer sequences occur a 1-kb region 5' to exon 1. sets repeats sequenced addition 63-bp repeats: one about 140 bp flanks 500 DNA first intervening sequence, other 72 is tandemly repeated 1.4 kb gene. The 4-kb from differs by an average 8.7% same but nucleotide two differ only 0.2%. This result suggests occurrence recent gene conversion event. regions containing 5-fold 63 identical PRH2. A comparison HaeIII BstNI human, mouse, rat suggest that individual evolved concerted fashion within each as whole.
