Strain-engineered magnetic phenomena in MnSe/ZnSe, MnTe/ZnTe, and MnSe/ZnTe superlattices

摘要: The authors point out that new zinc-blende structural modifications of MnSe and MnTe grown by molecular beam epitaxy offer unique examples strongly frustrated FCC Heisenberg antiferromagnets. These systems can be obtained either in the form strained superlattices with significant strain-induced anisotropy Mn-Mn exchange, or nearly isotropic semi-bulk single films. Neutron diffraction studies show strain changes phase transition order domain structure normally seen unstrained lattices, some cases (MnSe/ZnTe superlattices) even produces a to an entirely incommensurate helical spin structure. >
